Smoothing a very difficult time…

“When our beloved Doberman/Black Lab; Angus died suddenly in his sleep we were in shock. Though Angus was about 13 years old, he never exhibited any health issues and the night before we petted him good night as always. It was devastating to find Angus had died in his sleep by the bed.

The Pet Honoring kit helped smooth a very difficult moment for us.   In a matter of hours my husband found someone to take care of Angus’ remains and prepare him for cremation.   This was all too final and we wanted a way to celebrate the joy Angus brought into our lives and the Pet Honoring Kit pretty much laid it out for us.

The kit included a lovely photo frame with a memorial white feather attached to it. I immediately placed Angus’ photo in the frame and kept it by my bedside for several days. It made me feel as though Angus was still close by.

We took the kit to the gazebo in our yard by the lake; a favorite place for Angus and our other dog Jazz to play. My husband prepared a memorial prayer service for Angus, and did so by spreading out the silk cloth and placing the picture and other items all around it. We set candles along the gazebo railings and we both said prayers for Angus and talked about how much we loved him and what a joyful companion he had been for many years.

We then spread some of his ashes about the gazebo and into the lake. We placed a tennis ball inside the box, a small bone-shaped biscuit, some of Angus’ fur in a small clear container, and the cards that were sent to us by friends expressing their condolences. The Pet Honoring Kit is decorated with beautiful flower art and we placed it on the hearth. A small statue of a dog that looks much like Angus sits on top of it, along with his photo and the lovely urn that hold the rest of his ashes. We see it and now that time has passed a bit, we smile more at the memories of Angus.
